The Career Corner

The Career Development Center has some new updates for this semester. In July, the office moved from the Library the Howard Miller Student Center, near the Student Activities office. The Career Development Center is a great resource that Thiel must provide students with career support and education. Students of any year can go to the Career Development Center, to explore career options, help with selecting or changing a major, job or internship search, and applying to graduate schools.  

Liza Schaef is the director, and available by appointment, or she has student peer coaches that can help with basic questions. They are available for drop-in hours Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 1:30pm-3:30pm, no appointment needed!  The Career Development Center also help with resumes, cover letters, personal statements, or other career related documents. If a student needs help after hours, they are encouraged to visit the Student Resource Lounge on Moodle that is accessible 24/7. On the Moodle page, under the Career Development Center tab, students have access to a variety resources and templates of resumes & cover letters and links to videos that can help students find answers to some of their career questions.

The office also offers College Central, this is a job and internship search platform that has off campus full and part time jobs, internships, and other opportunities that students can apply for. The platform allows students to search for jobs and internships based off interests or major.

Additionally, students who are interested in on campus work must apply for jobs on College Central.  Currently there are still a variety of on campus job opportunities that students are encouraged to apply for that can help them build their resume, learn more about how campus offices work, and learn valuable job skills. The opportunities are always being updated, but some opportunities include Peer tutors, Health Professions Institute is looking for students’ workers to assist the director and other faculty members. Students’ activities are looking for students to help in assisting with on campus events and to promote them as well.  Working a job on campus is a great resume builder as well as a great opportunity to give back to the campus community.

There are also internship opportunities in the Greenville and surrounding areas in the fields of business, accounting, psychology, and other majors. To learn about these and other opportunities, students should access their college central account by going to collegecentral.com/thiel.
