October 29th, 2022: Thiel College Women’s Lacrosse took the field for the first time since April. They faced the Edinboro Fighting Scots, to come up with a 14-12 win.

The game was close to the entire team with each scoring goals right after the other. It started off slow for the Tomcats falling 0-2 in the first quarter. They were still fighting with a 5-1 score at the end of the first, but they were still fighting. The first goal of the game was scored by Senior Destiny Johnson.

Johnson has 107 in-season goals and 133 in-season points. She was named to the ALL-PAC Second Team and Honorable Mention following the 2022 season. This is her third time receiving an ALL-PAC honor. This was also her second ALL-PAC Second Team honor.

She has an average of 3.82 goals per game and 4.73 points per game. She is ranked sixth and fifth in the history of the program.

The third goal of the game was scored by Sophomore Camy Seman. Seman was a freshman last season, she racked up 13 total goals and 15 total points. She has a very strong shot and is a force to be reckoned with on attack. She was a starting midfielder for most of the season and served as an important part of the team’s overall wins.

The fourth goal was scored by senior Abby Carrizales. Graduating early, she only has two seasons with the Tomcats, but she was a strong asset to the team, nonetheless. As a starting midfielder, she scored 6 career goals and 13 career points. This brought the Tomcats to a score of 4-5 being so close to overcoming the Scots.

The Tomcats were down 5-6 at the end of the first half, but they weren’t ready to quit. The team is known for coming back after the end of the first half. Most of their games have been won due to a second-half comeback leading the Tomcats to victory.

At the end of the quarter, Junior Ashlynn Wightman has a goal that brought the Tomcats up to a 9-8 lead.

Wightman has been on the team for three years and has scored 76 career goals and 86 career points. She was named to the ALL-PAC First team after the 2022 season. This is her second ALL-

PAC First Team honor. She recorded a goal in every game last season and at least three goals in 9 out of the 12 games.

Starting the fourth quarter the Tomcats were still leading 9-8. This quickly led to a 10-8 lead as the quarter progressed., after a goal by Camy Seman.

After a back-and-forth battle, the Tomcats came out on top with a 14-12 win.

The Tomcats will begin there in season play in February of 2023.
